thomas ,you don't need a dyno as much as you need a dyna,(muffler) by your picture I'm guessing you're making a baffle by driving every other ring in and maybe twisting it.This type of thing has been tried before but didn't create enough back pressure to work .Being a newbie I'd go with a Harley muffler and save being disappointed.

Well is there a better way to make your own baffle? Because I want to go for the straight pipe look. I don't really want anything big or bulky like the stock muffler and I haven't looked at any mufflers so I don't really know what they look or sound like.

The Harley Dyna muffler is good looking, has a nice sound, cheap, available easy to tune to.. I bought a Supertrapp,, and spent about 380 more than I should.
