I just got a dyna muffler off eBay, it came without the baffle (pretty much a straight pipe now). I am running a stock air filter. I am located in Utah, elevation around 7,000 ft. above sea level. What are the recommendations for jetting my carb with this setup?

I explained it at the end of your last post, pipe running hot,it's easy and cheap,you need to go back and look. If you rejet you want the big jet,but that's not your problem ,basicly you have a straight pipe and you'll have a short power band without back pressure ,and have a very hard time (read almost impossible) jetting to run right.Get a new muffler or drive a freeze plug in it to restore the baffle,it's easy, cheap and you might not have to rejet at all.

Sell it or fix it.
A straight pipe is hard to jet to AND doesn't deliver the power of an unmolested Dyna muffler.
You're looking at a cheap problem to fix, it's labor or money.
I would ditch it and swap it out.

You can drive a 1-1/4" freeze plug down the muffler, and restore the proper operation of the DYNA baffle.

Thanks for the insight. I am not sure what a freeze plug is or does. In the picture, is that what I want? What do I do with it?

Yep.....look down your muffler, and you will see a tube with a series of holes inside. There is supposed to be a plate inside that tube that forces the exhaust to exit the tube and go into the front set of holes, and then come back into the tube on the back set of holes. Somebody either drilled or knocked out the plated in your muffler, and that is why it does straight through the tube now. You can drive the freeze plug to the location the original plate used to be.

You need to drive it down to about the center of the muffler...
...(I'd try using using the flat end of a broom handle or something,... you want to set it evenly in the pipe)... preferably going in from the front...
The center baffle directs exhaust gases through the waffling and into the out chamber then back out... (that's where the quiet happens)...
Better back pressure,.. wider torqueband...
....all that typing, and Dave beat me...

Any parts store will have freeze plugs ,their used in car engine blocks ,they're made to pop if you haven't used enough antifreeze to relieve pressure and not crack your block or heads.Thanks Dave I couldn't remember the size.Hockmanjosh,this mod will also stop your over heating the exhaust pipe.

Does it matter which way it goes in? The top of the cap facing the back of the bike or the front?

It's a lot harder to push it in backwards.
you only need the obstruction, regardless of which way you push it in.

The freeze plug is bent to be driven in a hole and Not be easy to shove back out. Which way it goes will be obvious, but you can always ask whoever sells it.
The closer to Fitting inside the cup that the freeze plug makes the easier getting it in straight will be. And that tells you which way to orient it. The rod/pipe whatever you choose needs to cover the flat area but not interfere with the lip being allowed to close in as it goes into the tight tube.
It's perfectly fine to clean up the inside diameter of the tube you're gonna ram it into. Who knows what little scuffs and dings were inflicted on it when the Great Modification was made.

At 7000 ft., you MAY not have to rejet. Read the carb tuning guide and play with the mixture screw. If it still doesn't run right then go up 1 jet size. If it surges while holding a steady throttle then it's too lean.
