It's flooding again

It just does not want to let up. We'll have one or two dry days and then three or four of rain.

Spring,

We had a fire engine get swamped here at The Ranch yesterday.

No one told me about the rain before we moved to Texas, they did mention the heat and the wind.

Thanks ya'll. It was really bad again this morning. The bad thing is we are supposed to have rain through the weekend and the ground and rivers/creeks just cannot take much more. I'm just praying people will be careful. We have already had loss of life because people use poor judgement.

Not badly, my land drains fairly well, although once it's saturated it stays that way for a while
I actually got some of my swamp cut this evening, mower only bogged a little
so far the only road flooding I've seen since I've been living here is on 950, 71 to Columbus seems to stay open even in the downpours
From the weather reports you are getting a lot more rain than I am though
I am VERY glad i got my bubba carport built though

We are having a lot of rain, and the flooding that goes with it, here in North Texas....

The worst part of the rain is when it does clear up all the rural roads that I usually ride will be washed away. And there will be a lot of turtles and snakes on the road.

Last week I watched a young lady trying to move a snapping turtle off of the roadway, she was lucky she had heavy shoes on. I never knew that a turtle would have a violent reaction. A construction worker used a shovel to move the turtle into the field next to the road.

Yep, this has really been something. I have been living in this house about 22 years and though the street has flooded a few times, it has never gotten this high before. If the rain stops today (not supposed to) then I think we will be OK. If it continues I may have to look for alternate routes for getting home.

Art and Kenny, I am sure glad you guys aren't getting hit this hard.

Spring,

Do you have a first name?

Thanks for thinking of Art & me.

I just saw a glimpse of sunshine and I am hopeful, but the weather report this morning predicted 70% coverage in the 25 county area the report on.

The Ranch is built on a mesa and we are somewhat safe from water pouring in from surrounding areas, but the drainage system will only move so much water. If we had another extreme downpour we would be in trouble.

Good luck on getting home, but don't take any chances with high water. I see they lost 5 good men at Ft. Hood to drowning.

Kenny, my first name is David. I like to look at the weather radar a few times during the day and lately those looks have been scary and I can see that the reach of these storms over the past few days has been huge.

I am glad you and Art are doing OK and I actually got a call from Wakosama (Tom) earlier today (he lives about a mile from me) and so far he is doing OK. I'll keep my fingers crossed and say my prayers cause last I looked the forecast was for more rain through Monday. Which is no bueno.
