I've got a stock '07 s40 and I don't get something about the rectifier.

I've noticed that out of six leads described in the manual, only five are physically present. The plug on the port side (male plug wired to rectifier) has leads Y1, Y2 and Y3. The plug on the starboard side (female plug wired to rectifier) has leads R and B/W; no O/B lead. There is no O/B wire from the rectifier and no contact in the plug. There is a corresponding male connection point and wire on the harness's half of the plug.

Tracing the wiring diagram, this lead looks like it is supposed to connect to all kinds of stuff, so I don't get why it's not on my bike.

The bike has run for the five years I've had it, so... my service manual is wrong? Huh

I am indeed looking at the '07 wiring diagram...

Off topic but Very handy to know, that Y-B on the decomp controller, put 12V on it, the starter motor will spin, even if you have the key in your pocket. And, there is a single red wire running right by the decomp controller.

When mine was new it would sometimes just turn off. Starter button did nothing, That would get me going again. It stopped doing that, I never figured out what was happening.

That wire is an activate signal for the older rectifiers. The newer ones don't have it. They activate from the power being generated. It took a long time and a lot of digging on the internet to find that.

The people that manufacture the rectifier won't even talk to you about it. And, Suzuki doesn't really publish any rectifier information other than this is the rectifier and these leads come out.
