SHeepskin seat cover suggestions
05/17/16 at 08:26:11

Hey...After riding quite a bit (~550 miles) this weekend I had a thought that may make my already modified seat even more comfy on those long haul rides. Sheepskin cover.

Has anyone had experience with a relatively inexpensive brand that covers just the front seat area well (mainly the butt bone area) and is worth the money?  I want a black one that blends in with my mostly black and chrome bike.

Thanks!

I have one of these on each of my bikes and I think they are well worth the money.

Mine's just a piece of sheepskin. Throw it on the seat and sit on it. No fitting or straps. Don't need them. After a while of sitting on it, it kind of conforms to the seat shape. $10 as an offcut/reject from the locall sheepskin goods manufacturing place. It's great.

Mine is fake sheepskin,... the elasticity of the fabric makes it conform nicely to the seat, and it has lasted over 5 years so far.
My buddies wife sewed a drawstring around the perimeter.

Thanks pg!

Serow, looks nice and good idea, but I still have the stock 2008 one piece seat so I will have to use the strap-on ( Shocked) cover/cushion since I just want to cover the driver seat for longer rides and not the passenger area.

I like gizzo's idea, just get a bit o sheepskin and secure it by sitting on it
That way you can carry it in when you're at work, and if it rains / dews you won't be sitting on a sloppy mess (wet sheepskin don't dry quick in my experience) on the way home

Ok...I finally ordered and installed my new sheepskin seat cover (size small) from alaska leather per pg's suggestion.

Shipped and received in 2 days. Quality looks and feels very well.  Installs with a single strap under the seat which has snaps on both sides so you can remove it to wash the bike (or if it's raining) without having to remove the seat and pull the strap completely out.

I finally rode to work with it today for the first time and for a short 15 minute ride I think it's great.  Time will tell as I ride more as well as some longer rides, but I would certainly say for $50 its well worth it.

It feels so soft and cuddly, I almost wanted to pack my pants and undies and ride to work in my birthday suit from waist to ankle.   Cool Cool Cool
