actually smaller, the mini cabin was, I believe, 12x18, vs 10x16
figuring out the best layout will be tricky
doesn't help I didn't plan it through before specing the doors and windows and AC cutout, and the queen size bed doesn't help much, either, but I'll get it figured out

Look at some of the tiny houses.
most of them have the bedroom as a loft.
or I'd look at a murphy bed.

Art,

Go to an Ikea store and look at the display that they have for the world's smallest apartment. You will get some good ideas there.

What about drawers under the bed as in twin bed on top of two Dressers.  Yea , forget the mirror but put a bed on top ?

Thinking outside the box ???  Roll Eyes

Queen size beds make a 8'x10' bedroom seem small - you need to find a smaller bed.

Those mini house shows always show storage places tucked in everywhere.......under the bed, behind the door, overhead.  Would it be wrong to store your clothes up by the roof and use if for insulation? Shocked

I thought about a lofted barn for thast very reason, but climbing down from a loft to use the potty in the middle of the night would suck
The murphy bed idea has occurred to me, I just have to figure out how to make it sturdy enough for occasional um, execrcise

Tha is a great idea, just have to find an Ikea near me (or maybe it's on their website)
I am definitely thinking minimalist here, and small stuff leaves more room for living

hehehe ever lived in a travel trailer? there is ALWAYS under bed storage (less useful if you use a murphy bed, though)
mine has a large space under with cabinet doors
If I don't Murphy I will definitely use the underbed space , but more likely an open area (think 'big footlocker' rather than dresser)

I do, the only reason I'm using the queen at first is that I already own it
It is old enough replacing it should probably be done soon
still will likely stick with a full size, in case overnight company
man, a twin would take up so much less space
Nothing wrong with overhead storage for clothes, I was thinking a closet rod in a nook with a shelf on top, like a hotel room, since I don't own a lot of clothes, but that might be even better
I'm still debating between downsizing a hotel type floorplan and using a small travel trailer inspired floor plan
I'd be better served had I put the AC cutout in the front wall or the side wall, then I could just close of the back completely and voila, bathroom / closet area in one

Beds should go up on the wall, fold up.
No reason why they should be allowed to eat all that floor space all day long.

Academy sell a campstove/ oven. Propane, pretty cool, stainless steel, wanna say three top burners.

is it portable? right now my Trailer has a 3 burner stove with oven, but it's a built-in
I like the idea of being able to stash stuff when not in use, and was considering either a 2 burner camp stove or a gas grill outside, as I tend to do must of my cooking in the oven right now
of course a microwave will cook most things well, but the gas option means you can still cook if the power is out, and it tastes better
as to the bed, I tend to use it as a chair a lot  Grin
I am thinking of a fold away though, just gotta figure out how to make it good and sturdy without it being too cumbersome
Gary came up with an interesting idea re floorplan, that makes the idea I originally had doable despite my dumb placement of the AC cutout
