I don't fully understand the question...isn't the RSD a Builders Forum of sorts? Forum members post their questions, and the forum members respond.
I created the "Bike Builds" Sticky as an Index to provide a way for folks to see what other have done, and provide a way to prevent those builds from just disappearing as the build got older. The thread is locked....and the Moderators can add build threads when the build gets far enough along to warrant being included. If the thread was not locked.....it would just become another discussion thread.....it was created as in Index/listing of previous builds. Build threads that have a beginning and documented progress are included in the Bike Builds.....it is impossible to include builds that are scattered around in multiple threads, or are limited to a new muffler, air filter, headlight change....etc. The Bike Build thread includes Cafe's, Bobbers, Standards, Street Trackers....anything that has a Savage/Boulevard S40 as the basis of the build. The bike doesn't have to be finished to be included in the Bike Build thread - but it has to be moving along and showing progress before a Moderator will include it in the Build Thread Index.
If you want your bike to be included....then you just start a build thread to show what you are doing - and make steady progress along the way. (Up to this point you haven't started a bike build thread.....you are posting various questions and the forum members are discussing your topics like wheels, tires, speedometers, etc.). Neither Verlsagen or Serowbot are included in the Build Thread (even though they have very nice bikes).....as I have never seen a thread where they consolidated their build. There have been a few other members who have very nice bikes - but scattered their progress in multiple posts, and it is impossible for the Moderator to go through the forum and gather up all those posts and link them into the Bike Builds Index.
You can start a thread to discuss anything you want - if you want to start Builders discussion thread...go ahead and start it. If the thing takes off and has merit - then maybe we can make a "sticky" out of it - so that it stays on the top of the list.
If you want to start your "Bike Build" and provide a place where you document what you are doing....go ahead and start one. It helps to create a name for you project and include it in the Subject line, and to keep the thread on track about your build, and not veer away from the actual build.
