O.K. BIG typo. Should be 2.4 gals. ....Unless I can find some kind of a ''gas shoehorn''. A ''gashorn''?
I do have a 4.2 gal Yamaha tank, as per Smokinblue, but it is going to take a while to do the swap. New inst. panel, home built seat, it all takes time away from riding.

Here's a link for that second fuel tank.

Best regards,

PG,

Good find.

This is exactly what I would mount behind the drivers seat if I got into any serious touring, which isn't likely.

MM, I have a tank from a Yamaha 650 V-Star to replace the stock tank. Smokinblue posted about it a few months ago. The stock inst. cluster does not just slap-on and the seat must be modded.  I am tossing the stock inst. cluster and going with a Android phone with a gps speedo app. and led idiot lights. I am running both Kaw pulleys and a 150/90 15 rear tire, so the stock unit is 22% off.  Hoping to get that elusive 200 mile range.

Kenny, If I was doing Trans-Alaska that tank would be great, but for all around use ,, not for me.
The fuel bottles are something you could mount semi-discreetly, however..

Wolf,

I don't ride far enough at any one time anymore to need a larger tank.

If I was younger, and still hitting Daytona for Bike Week, I would have a bigger tank and probably it would be one of the spun aluminum tanks that was some where near quick detachable.

I like the idea of a 4 or 4.5 gal reg tank w/speedometer on the handlebars.  But don't have a clue which tank might work.  Huh

Wolf , it  sounds like your able to take the long rides with some of us !  Cool

Congrats MMR. I've done rides like that but not on a Savage. That's remarkable.

That's easy... find a kawa VN probably 750 tank (ala sieversavage)

Almost looks like a savage tank without the speedo hole.

I'm still gonna try to put a GZ250 tank on my Savage @ some point. The front mounts need to be narrowed and moved forward tho.
