Howdy everyone,
I just picked up my very first bike, a LS650 from 2001 in the Metallic Glacial Blue color. When I picked it up, it was very rough... missing parts, dents, broken everything, and it barely ran. The battery was resting on a piece of wood and zip tied to stay in!
After a couple weeks of searching and tinkering, I've since replaced all the turn signals, headlight with bracket, installed a factory ignition (a cheap aftermarket one had been installed into the left side cover), new gas cap, new speedometer, new air filter, new intake boot, cleaned carb, new oil filter, Raptor petcock, front break pads, break fluid, and of course some fresh Rotella T6!
She's come a long way but I still have a few things to do including:
Verslavy cam chain adjuster and head plug
Replace or repair seat
Track down a decent backrest for the passenger seat
Fix all the squeaks and rattles
Here's how she sits now:
And on to the questions since this is the Rubber Side Down board...
Am I missing anything?
Is there anything I should look at considering appearance, reliability, and most importantly safety?
Any and all input is much appreciated! Before a couple weeks ago, I had never owned, let alone, worked on a bike!
