Tires
04/17/16 at 08:00:16
I don't ride my Savage all that much. Mostly it is a fun thing to goof around with. I have done a few mods, lower the front forks, change the seat etc. I am trying now to make it look a bit more rugged. A little like the new bike on Walking Dead. I want to go with a more aggressive dual sport type tire with out changing the rims. Any ideas? I really don't care about comfort or handling or wear time. I just ride around the neighborhood anyway. I like the look of the tire on the Yamaha tw200.

15" is the wrongest size for a DP tire there is.

There's no problem that a full tank of gas and a sunny day can't fix!

There is a somewhat obscure Chinese dual-sport bike that uses a 15" rear tire that is a more aggressive tread. Unfortunately nobody imports the tire to the US. You got any friends in China?

This bike?
If so, I guess you have plenty of fun work you can do while you wait to make some friends in China
Not sure if this will help, but I know the guys at British Customs makes some pretty rugged looking bikes...maybe you could touch base with them for some help?
Here is a photo and the link for their "Furiosa" build info.

Bumping an old thread. My bike has a Dunlop K627 on the rear, which I like the look of, but they apparently don't make anymore. Any other dual sport-looking tires anyone has found? I wouldn't mind a tire that can take the odd dirt back road.
I was thinking of going to a 130/90-15 (I want to have a rear passenger and no rubbing issues). Anyone have experience with the Bridgestone G508? Apparently it's oem on the older Honda Rebel. That's all I can find...
