Great images!

Our bikes are an unlikely candidate for some of the things that have been done. Grin

I believe that is because they're an inexpensive bike to purchase and that leaves $$$$ on the table for MODs.

Rat,
The dimension is 3 3/8", but this just barely allows enough clearance. To be safe you probably should go to 3 1/2".

I think the only times I use the full range of motion on the bars is when it's parked or I'm backing out of a parking spot. But, I'm with you, 3-1/2" for full clearance would be ideal. Not sure how those other bikes posted handle the low risers

Rat,

If you find a machinist to machine the risers for you there is enough material on the factory risers to make 2 sets of risers.

Make 2 sets and sell one set to recover the machinist's charge.

great idea, I'm looking at used risers right now, I found a bunch new on Amazon, range in price from $30-200+ for a set of 1" bar risers w/ 3.5" rise to center line.

I ordered a set of Suzuki OEM short risers (buckhorn bar risers) on ebay for $30, should be here next week. If they don't work out, I'll use them on the board tracker project for sure.

Rat,

Prices of some of the nickle and dime parts for motorcycles are ridiculous. I make, adapt or improvise parts where ever I can.

When you go to sell a bike it always hard to get all of your money out of them. And you can bet that $200.00 risers will yield nothing.

I made a set of risers out of socket wrenches but the chrome didn't look right along side of the aluminum top clamp

The main reason I ended up cutting the factory risers down was that they matched the top clamp and the other aluminum parts on the S40.

~~~UPDATE ~~~
1985-Current Suzuki Intruder risers will work.
*exceptions are the LARGE OVERSIZED base models, you can spot them easily, they have a large flared out base that mounts to the tree.
