The wave of the future?

How do you guys feel about the whole idea of an electric motorcycle? Does it take away any of the fun? Do you lose any of the sensations of sound or feel of a "real" motorcycle?

I don't know what the plusses would be, pretty sure the acceleration would just be great, and the balance should be good and the vibration would be good, but I know I would miss the sound of the engine and the snarling growling downshift..

It sounds like a great idea but I'll pass for the same reasons. I like the "rawness" of the Savage/S40.

I would not have a problem riding an electric motorcycle - the cost and limited range are the only downside I can see.  I don't think I would have any problem losing the engine vibrations or sound.

If I had a 20 mile ride to work and back and used it to commute - it might be really nice.

That would fit my need Dave.
The noiselessness might allow me to enjoy the rushing sounds of the wind,
as it wraps its way around my sculptured body.....
Kissing me with its gentle natural feeling,
Caressing and soothing me as a gentle beautiful masseuses with her long tapered fingers.....
Probing deep into the cavities and crevices,
Of my body
As I whirl by.

You might say I could very well get a charge out of it  Wink

I could dig a quiet ride ,sometimes, but, until I have one and my Heart loves it more, I would have to keep that gas powered machine.

Everyone gets on that goofy mantra once in a while.
I'm pretty sure I can buy an outboard engine, but, well,, you know, everyone Calls them motors. And, do you ride an enginecycle??

Find out when your buddys birthday is and buy him a nice, sharp blade, for splitting hairs.

yeah Mike, I had a buddy like that, would get angry when someone used motor/engine in place of the other. We teased him about his "issue".  Wink

Well, if they would knock the price down a bit....
And, I only needed to ride 30 or fewer miles to work and  then back each day...
And I could recharge them to full in under an hour.....
And, I didn't have to replace the batteries in 5 years.....

Then yup... I would buy one... lots of torque and no sound to interfere with my hearing.... of course I would have to buy a semi-truck horn to put on it, so folks could hear me when they try to cut me off Smiley
