replacment for stock carburetor
03/12/16 at 08:15:52

I have 2003 savage, has anyone replaced their carburetor?  I keep having fuel leaking into the case and airbox.I had close to a gallon of gas in it when i parked it back in December, started it a couple of times through dec and jan. I left the fuel on the last time I started it about a month ago.Went to go start it and no fuel, I knew exactly where it went opened up the airbox and their it is, drained the case and gas came out. I had about 3/4 of a gallon in the case and airbox. I have rebuilt the carb and adjusted the float twice Angry

the stock savage has a automatic petcock.
if it don't shut off, it'll flow gas into the airbox or case.
there's a test your petcock how to in the tech section index.

There's no problem that a full tank of gas and a sunny day can't fix!

Dude short and simple- just remove the two bolts on the petcock (after draining the fuel of course and removing the fuel line)

remove the vacuum line and put a kink in it and zip tie it to stay kinked so no air will get in

install the new petcock with the two bolts and place the fuel line on!

simple and easy and cheap to do
