After some consideration, I have given up on mounting a Sportster seat to my '08 Savage. Next I will try and see if a solo Mustang saddle can be made to work.

I worked and got the seat half mounted, and found that it moved me slightly closer to the footpegs. I do like the looks, so I'll give it a try. I did not have to move the rectifier, which helped.

That bike from the first photo in this thread has changed. It's mine. here is it now.
