You Americans may have seen this, but if you haven't, go to  www.Trademe.co.nz and check listing 9693370 for 2016 colours and badging.

I don't get it, they show a 2016 S40, but if it's really that cheap you get a screaming deal

this one's a 2015, maybe they're trying to get the old models out to get the 2016s in?

One thing about the S40 is that it is more or less unique.

Nothing else out there has the combination of attributes. Most bikes seem to be built for giant long legged people, which is fine if you are one of them. I'm not! Sad 800lbs? or even 600, give me a break. I have nightmares about hot exhaust pipes pinning my leg down. :'(

I like the new sticker, besides being cool, it doesn't jab your knees when hugging the tank. I have a Savage, so I don't have to worry about that.

I always liked the white s40, I'm not so sure about the blue.  I didn't realize it was an anniversary model.   Cool

Uh huhh...  that certainly explains why so many cam chains need attention Prior to actually failing to meet specs.
Which
Advanced
Suzuki technology is he talking about?
The bike is unrefined, harsh, simple, I bought mine new, kept inside, pampered, and rode the snot outta the thing. It required maintenance. Tool time versus ride time, at first, wasn't so great.
By twenty thousand miles, seems it was sorted out. Didn't think I would ever ride again, sold it.

Anyway, a Smooth single? Yeehaa, it's counterbalanced.
It's, to me, the Essence of riding. Minimal BS , you, machine, go. Handling can be weird. One sweeper I liked, the exit speed was dictated by the suspension. Between 65 and 70, handlebars started oscillating back and forth,, but I kept trying.

In short, IF the bike WAS everything the ad Says it is, there'd be a Bunch more of them on the streets..

Justin,

To sell the Savage/LS650/S40 you need owners that are willing to put up with a lot of the faults built into the bike. I have always liked big singles since my first BSA 350 Gold Star dubbed "The Boys Racer" and I have never found any of them to be free of mechanical issues. It looks like perhaps the newer Yamaha reproductions could be less of a hassle than some big singles and the geometry on the Yamaha is much better than the S40.

I am keeping both of my singles and if I inherit a bunch of money I would probably buy one of the Yamaha singles.

Just saying.

I'd be really interested to know exactly how many countries these bikes are sold in, and where they sell the most. Suzuki wouldn't keep cranking them out basically unchanged for 30 years if they weren't making money on them.

My guess is that in some parts of the world with tierd licensing schemes they might fall into a category without a lot of competitors.

As far as I'm aware they are currently sold in USA, Canada, NZ, and have just been re introduced to Australia. Gizzo may correct me on that.
