jet size question. (sorry guys)
01/14/16 at 12:37:54

hey so im at the nearly done stage with my bike. im looking at getting the jets ordered up. i just wanna know before i get the wrong ones, is there any way i can find out what size jets i have in my carb??? do they have numbers stamped on them or can they be measured somehow?
the problem i have is i found a list with the main and pilot jet numbers according to year of manfacture on the forum, it says the earlier carbs had #155 mains and #67.5 pilots. way bigger than the stated sizes for newer bikes. i want to order a range either side of what i have but im not sure what they are.
im just not sure if im running the 87 carb or a newer 90's carb on the bike. i have both and stuff got a bit mixed up during the build. i cleaned up and assembled one of the carbs from all the cleaner bits but im sure i mixed up the guts of it with some parts of the other one. i stupidly assumed they were the same. it seems to run pretty good, perhaps a bit lean?
the big zorst pipe and cone filter that i fitted mean its gonna need tweaking but this is my first rodeo with carb tuning. always considered it a black art but never needed to dabble so i never learned the ways... any help or suggestions appreciated as always  Smiley

I am not sure how helpful we can be about jet sizes.....for bikes that are not in the US.  Your fuel may very some from what we use.

The jets do have numbers on them.

For a stock engine and air filter I recommend starting with a #50 Pilot and #150 Main and 3 washers on the needle instead of the white spacer.  If you have a cone filter and open exhaust - you might need to bump that up to a #52.5 Pilot and a #152.5 Main....and maybe only 2 washers.  In most instances I believe the #55 and #155 jets are just too big.....but I suppose those might be needed in some instances.

Ok thanks. I'll pull the carb apart and see if I can get my head round what it is I need to order. Cheers.

that should be 47.5 for the pilot jet.
