The chain offers you no performance advantage - except for the ability to change the drive ratio. It can be done with the pulleys if you have the ability to do some machining....or have a friend that can machine the Kawasaki pulleys to fit the Savage. I prefer the belt to a chain....it is a lot less maintenance and keeps the bike cleaner.

Obviously, you can also gear it lower too. Just don't gear it so high that you're lugging the engine.
