Your water meter uses PVC pipe and is connected to the house? Mine is at the street a foot underground and I think it uses a metal pipe. I've never seen a setup like yours. Think positive - at least you got it fixed. Too bad it was on your side of the meter though.

There's no problem that a full tank of gas and a sunny day can't fix!

I'd say it's time to replace it all.
unless somebody hit it with a shovel.

Bummer, sucky way to waste a day off! I hit mine with the lawnmower a couple months ago. That sucked too.

But, I had a few days off too, so since you asked I went down the coast camping and glider flying. Good times.

Those PVC G-couplings are for only a temporary solution.
The rubber o-rings will start to seep, or the jam nut cracks from years of stress.....
You should use a solvent fitting.
I was a plumbing contractor for decades before I started building commercial aircraft.

Agreed with Ray
I'm not a plumber, and never will be, but I always use solvent with PVC
my portable I plan to plumb with PEX, if i ever get it on my property

I am in north florida and ALL of our piping is pvc (even sewer and septic)... from the street to the house. To me its much easier to fix/replace than metal just have to make sure everything is CLEAN.... LOL.... which sometimes can be a pain.

Yep. I heard the compression fitting would only be good for a few years but the hole kept on filing up with water making it difficult to glue it. The pipe actually did not break, but rather the cement on the coupling gave out on one end. So I just cut it off and put in the compression fitting. The same thing happened at a different joint of the same pipe in June and I did re-cement that one. If another one fails any time soon I may just replace the whole thing like Versy recommended. If it will all just last a few more years, long enough to get my youngest kid through college, I may even be able to afford to pay someone to take care of it. Grin

A few years back, in Lititz PA, when municipal water came through I ran the PVC pipe through the rubber tubing that is used for on site wells.

I never had any trouble while living there, bit if I did all I had to do was loosen the PVC pipe at the street and pull it back through the house to work on it or replace it.

As I recall it didn't cost a whole lot for 100 ft of the tubing.
