In order to run more efficiently, you have to burn more gas.  Wink

There's no problem that a full tank of gas and a sunny day can't fix!

And, because it runs better you twist your wrist faster and earlier.   Because you like what it is doing now so much better you are using it more.   More RPMs becomes less efficient, especially when you get there quicker.

I dunno about that 'twist the wrist faster and earlier' thing, I have not done the spacer mod, and I find myself grabbing big handfuls of throttle to get out of that awful flat / surgy spot as fast as I can
My mileage averages well below 50
Oldfeller covered car tires far better than I could have hoped to, and nailed it, so I won't even try, except to +1 that part of his post
Myself I will be going from the 140 / 90 to the 130 / 90 next rear tire change, as I prefer a bike that responds more quickly to a lighter touch, and the 140 requires a bit heavier hand
130 / 90 is available in a number of tires that have a good rep
What I really rather do is fit a larger rear rim so I could take advantage of the tire sizes available for sportier bikes
I always dream about a Ryca CS2 conversion, or maybe trying to do something similar myself

Well, I finally got to look at the Scootanic today, and I pulled the trigger
S40 is gone  Sad and the Swing is taking it's place
downsides: low speed handling will require some work, as the clutch goes to freewheeling below 2k RPM, you have to load the throttle against the brakes to keep the power on. This will take some practice
the handling will never be as good as a 'real' moto at low speeds / on tigh twisties
I don't really like the tipsy feeling at low speeds
upsides, felt very relaxed at 70 during the test ride, better gas mileage, underseat storage (enough to hold 2 FF helmets)
24 month 'warranty' in case of breakage
my monthly payment will be 121 and change, not too shabby
I think in the long run I'll be glad I did this, though i suspect I will miss the S40

said and done, I mostly ride high speed highway now, and the Swing, I think, is a better bike for that

Good for you Art. I hope you enjoy the heck out of this new bike. I would normally say "Thump on", but I'll just say, ride on!

No worries mate. Riding is riding, whether you are thumping or not. Glad to ride with you.

Sounds like this new bike will serve you better anyway since you are on the super slab so much now. Congrats. Cool

I think I missed something.  At one point we were talking about the Burgnmans, and now it is a "Swing" and I have no idea what that is?
