New Moto Guzzi at Italian bike show
12/22/15 at 17:12:02
Four decades after the original debuted, Moto Guzzi has an Eldorado in its lineup again. Based on the California 1400 first seen at EICMA two years ago, the new bike brings back the classic chrome knee panels and twin pin-stripes from the original Eldorado. The new 16-inch spoke wheels and whitewalls recall the past, too, as do with the retro taillight and bullhorn handlebar. Just like in the 1960s, it’s powered by a 90-degree V-twin, transversely mounted and driving the rear wheel via drive shaft.

That's a nice sled but I don't care much for the exhaust or the fuel tank. Just me I reckon. I wouldn't kick it off the porch tho . . .

I'm no Guzzi expert but I don't think Guzzi ever made anything that butt ugly in the 60s

If I had that engine and drive line I Think I could build a chassis and all the stuff necessary to make it a functional motorcycle and have it lighter and more visually attractive.
An exhaust system should be, IMO, as physically small as possible while doing the job of drawing the gasses out efficiently and muting the sound to an acceptable level. Those motors sound so much like a V8 when they are rapping up.
But, I guess when they are going for big displacement, heavy everything else is just to be expected. I've seen some Goldwings trimmed down to cafe style. I'm betting they hop off the line.
Others gravitate towards the bigger bikes, I just never felt the attraction. A well designed 800 twin would do everything I ever wanted. But, I'm not sure I can manage that. I May be forced to get another Savage, even IF I can get the Kawasaki W 650 legal and running.
I like Guzzi , the engine is cool, but I don't dig the bike.

Yep, motor is way too big. I guess that is what happens when you take an 850cc twin and turn it into a 1400...elephantitis.
