Bottle of Redline delivered today.....
12/20/15 at 16:13:30

....and, having read up on cam/rocker arm wear issues, I now have what I need for the 600-mile first oil change

-- Gallon of Rotella T dino-oil
-- KN oil filter from O'Reilly Auto Parts
-- Redline additive

Now I'm going to stick my head in the lion's mouth....

Since I don't know what oil came in the new bike, would it be a good idea to add a bit of Redline to the crankcase now? From Boule'tard's table, about 1/2 ounce of Redline seems right.

"Let the games begin!!".  Shocked

With 100 miles on the odometer of this new bike

I'd have to assume that it's the original break in oil from the factory.
And you shouldn't have to do anything to it.

It should be the original factory oil. I bought it off the showroom floor with 3.8 miles on the odometer...way up to 155 now!!  lol

if it aint broke dont fix it. seriously, break in with whats in there and use the zddp at the 600 mile change. there was another discussion on starting the bike up on the stand and letting it idle on the stand. we think this is not good so i only start mine up wheels up straight, off the stand. ensures proper lubrication at startup which is where the most wear occurs on most engines.

Just ride it, pay attention to the recommendations, have fun. When it's time to change oil, then add the goodies.

I read that discussion, and I've often done the warmup idle while doing "pre-flight" checks of lights and horn and putting on riding gear...but no more! The bike will be upright from now on.

There's no problem that a full tank of gas and a sunny day can't fix!
