Not wishing to counter that for it's own sake but.......
it's surprising how many people, today, in the old 'Eastern Bloc' look back to those days and wish the 'old ways', in part, would return.

I don't doubt that at all.  The generation after the Stalin era was raised to believe in the collective and all the associated benefits as well.  They went from a complete totalitarian society to capitalistic one in a very short span.  I say capitalism, which is to say TPTB sold entire industries to their friends who became billionaires over night.  A very, very dark time for many people.

Best regards,

I've heard about it. I figured I was alone. Congratulations on your understanding of the events of the day.

Shouldn't be surprising at all. Freedom, and the personal responsibility and accountability it requires is often messy, uncomfortable, and difficult for some people. Shuffling through life as a mindless prole on the other hand is actually easy, As long as one doesn't mind being subject to the whims of an all powerful leader or leaders.

"The people resemble a wild beast, which, naturally fierce and accustomed to live in the woods, has been brought up, as it were, in a prison and in servitude, and having by accident got its liberty, not being accustomed to search for its food, and not knowing where to conceal itself, easily becomes the prey of the first who seeks to incarcerate it again." - Discourses on Livy (1517), Book 1, Ch. 16

Good one, DR. People just don't really understand the concept of freedom. They believe that they are free, while nearly everything requires a license or permit, that they must petition the government for, else they be punished. Open a business, add onto your house, drive a car, carry a gun, go fishing, dare to hire out to perform a service,, yeah, land of the free.

Yet, Showing the ideas and LOOKING at Observed Reality, which would support the conclusion that That is being used, and get met by people who are so engrossed in an agenda that they can't see it.
