Well I am not a Rocket Scientist....but that looks pretty cool. Looks like the "Big Single" of the rocket world!

It does appear to be a lot smaller than the NASA rockets I have seen launched, and I imagine the payload is dramatically lower as well.

I sure hope they either put a bigger chute on the capsule when they actually have passengers - or give them some really soft cushions to sit on, as they landing looked to be pretty hard!

Elon Musk's Space-X has been trying it with their Falcon 9 boosters, landing on a floating platform. So far, close but they are still crashing. But the Falcon is a lot bigger rocket than Jeff Bezos' thing.

It's pretty easy to see what is required: 1., a lot more fuel and oxidizer than is needed to go up and then flame out, 2., solid gyros and nav software to find home and arrest the descent right on time, and 3., very fine responsive vectored thrust responding to the gyro inputs.

Bezos pulled it off first, but there were some pretty wild excursions trying to stabilize the rig. Before these systems become dependable they are going to need a lot more precise control so they come down on a rail and land like a feather. But I guess it is worth doing from an economic perspective. Rocket engines and booster sections are pricey things to throw away after one use.
