Do we really learn anything?

I know the debates have a long history, and some stuff has been revealed in them, but....
It seems it has just become another extension and avenue for the media to capitalize upon.
Does a good debater equal a good leader?

I can see one presidential debate after each parties candidate is chosen, and a mixed panel of moderators from various media outlets.
I think its fair to pit the moderators against each other, as they do the candidates, seems if anything the folk watching will get to see all the elements of the political spectrum on display on one stage...

Oh.... and no advertising, just straight live coverage for perhaps 2 hours.....

What you say?

Current format while entertaining at times seems rather goofy to me. The medias job is to report what occurred not act as interrogators with various axes to grind.
