The first Savage (Yellow) I had was noisy. I had the idea to use a layer of JB Weld to rebuild the cam bearing surfaces with. So with a smear of JB on the head bearing surfaces and a layer of saran-wrap between the cam and bearings I put the top on the motor and let it set for a few days. Then removed the Saran Wrap. It was more quiet for a few thousand miles.
The second S-40(black) was really low millage when I got it and it never got idled below 1200rpm that I know of .
It seems those cam bearing should be replaceable "ball bearings".
Do yall recon that a 10W40 oil - rather than 20W50 oil might get more oil up to head ?
