They sent me to Tech School where I started my 45-year career in telecommunications.  Then sent me to Athens, Greece for a 30 month vacation.  With the Internet I was able to find old friends.  Bob was going to San Diego for a vacation, which is close enough for me to ride for lunch and remember the good times.  Such as when Bob was ticketed for loud mufflers, told the judge that the mufflers were under his bed and was very quiet, ticket dismissed.  And when Bob was at a sidewalk table with two guys from Germany, bragging.  They said they had a guy that made E5 under 4 years.  Bob said we had a guy that made E5 in under three years, was Safe Driver of the Month, and is coming in right now.  Which I knew nothing then, but merely came in in my normal manner, racing with a un-muffled VW, slammed the brakes and slide sideways to park at the curb.

He later said that he wife never really believed the stories from the military -- until she witnessed us remembering and she realized that the wild stories were real.  In the military we didn't need tall tales.

Shore Patrol is probably still looking for me...  Grin I wasn't exactly prime military material... Had entirely too much fun on local economy when I was a SeaBee.
