bogs + Doesnt like the rain + Clutch rod
11/01/15 at 16:11:39
Hey Guys
I have three queries
1
my bike hates the rain. the float needle gets stuck and i have to give it a tap every single time im riding and it rains? I travel 140km round trip every week day and if it rains, i have to tap the the carb atleast 5 times or more. I dont have this problem at all when Its a dry day.
2
my bike bogs and stumbles at the beginning of the throttle in all gears.
so when im out riding each time i change gears up, theres a slight flat spot before i feel the power of the new gear kick in, if i do a gear change up slowly and only have the throttle pulled slightly and leave it there, it bogs and stumbles and backfires untill i add more throttle and then it comes right, does this every gear change. could it be a clogged jet? or carb?
3
Lastly my clutch rod marking on the motor is almost sitting above the line and I dont have anymore adjustment room at the lever or on the clutch cable adjuster. will I need a longer clutch rod soon.
Thank you.

1st what tells you that it's stuck?
2nd, white spacer mod most likely, but don't over do it. what's your main?
3 looks like you already know.

For issue 1/2.....if those issues have just shown up recently and the bike used to run OK - I believe you need to take the carb apart and give it a good cleaning and inspection.

1. Ive had the float needle stuck before, I lose power and the revs keep climbing while i apply throttle, similar to the clutch slipping. a little tap on the carb and it comes right. just want to know why it happens in the rain. everytime with out fail.
2. will look into the white space mod. not sure what the main is. haven't had the carb fully out yet.
3. Thanks I do use the search option before, sometimes I just need confirmation because Im a noob.
Cheers

Check the vent tubes are they getting water in them?
are the ends tucked up into the frame?
then I'd check the float height.

Maybe there's some gunk in the bowl, drain the bowl and look at what comes out. And the float level can be checked with a piece of tubing shoved on the drain nipple and brought around and up to the upper edge of the bowl.
