Nice ride today...

Took the Savage and the Drifter out this evening. The only two bikes to show out of dozens expected. Color guard for the 138th death vigil for General Nathan Bedford Forrest, CSA. Vigil was at his graveside, a block or so from the house he died in.

Cold ride home by our standards, mid 50s and high humidity. Made the mistake of gassing up in the city, bike surges as if the drive chain had a tight spot... Angry Caught air on a couple sections of rough pavement, hard enough landings that the fender tip threw sparks. And blew both rear signal bulbs. Surprised the circa 1994 rear Dunlop did not pop.

Making flag poles this weekend that will bolt to the full rear fender. Found a source of 2'x3' flags in pretty much any design my twisted self desires...  Cool

Tell Doug "Howdy" for me  Cool.

Our CMA group double wrapped Zip ties , full size (3'x5') flags last July 4th onto our bikes for a parade and it worked good .  Might work for ya ?

Good of ya to Honor Bedford Forrest , I suspect if all those "Yankees" could have seen into the future they would have followed Bedford too !  Wink

What is your source?  Local or internet?

I put on a 3x5 US Flag for PGR missions.  My first pole was a jury rigged conglomeration of PVC, aluminum tubing and maple dowel attached to the sissy bar with a U-Bolt that fit the mounting holes for the sissy pad.   It started to crack after a year or so.
Had a buddy make a steel pole for me with a welded bracket that fits the sissy pad holes.  Much sturdier.

Most motorcycle problems are caused by the nut between the seat and the handlebars. Make sure yours isn't too tight or too loose.

Best regards,

The city is still trying to do that. The city will fail as the site was a city cemetery pre war. Only need to positively identify one more burial of the 147 or so on the site. Early potters field for the first city hospital.

State historical society told the city hands off. One of the heads of the county historical society is telling the city hands off. The Forrest family has final say, and we say hands off.
