had a courier run the  fed bldg. in Denver yesterday via I 70
4 hour trip one way got there too early for the delivery window so had to wait an hour
headed back west about 3:15
hit the snow before the tunnels young lady in a pathfinder ended up on her left side into the center guardrail helped another guy pull her out of the cab the drivers side pillar gone and that part of the roof smashed to the dash
amazing she only had scratches..
a lot of drivers over drive for the conditions
while we were getting her out the first plow/sand truck got ahead of me
west side of the tunnel eastbound was backed up for a good 5 miles
spent the nite in the  Silverthorn/Dillion area
14deg when I left there this am took an hour to go the first 40 miles
just west of Vail it dried out..
winter has come

The only time I want to drive through that stuff is on my way to the slopes. I messed my knee up last year working on a house and don't think it could take Vail. But the intermediate slopes in the Midwest should be OK.

I was taught that in bad conditions you should drive 5 mph slower that what you think is safe. Sometimes that means not moving at all and just waiting it out.

Yep, be safe out there.

When I was stationed at Lowery AFB I took the slopes on Vail and a few other spots around the Springs....  went camping up there in the summer too Smiley Beautiful place there, like most mountainous terrains, but hey.... its great to visit, but i'm back south in Jan and Feb Smiley

It really doesn't help that the automakers make all cars with fat tires now, skinny tires are better for driving in snow
Heck, even my Ranger skates some on BR 71 when it's raining
