Hiya! I'm new here. Let me show you my scrambler.

Hey y'all! I recently built a Ryca scrambler. I got tons of info from this site, so thanks! It started with a 2009 in a pretty much pink color (magenta?). I fitted the parts to get them ready to paint...then I fell in love with the way it looks as is--it has a touch of rat look with the primer and raw metal. I had a great time building it and it is super fun to ride. I'm surprised about how much attention it gets, especially in my town (York, PA) where there's tons of Harley's everywhere.

Here's a link to more pics.  Photobucket won't allow hotlinking....

Jer,

That is a really nice scrambler.

I am from Lancaster, Pennsylvania and my entire family is still living in and around York.

Do you know any Gilgore's or Kury's?

Love your bike!  I've been working on my own "scrambler" backyard build, so I thoroughly enjoyed your picture album.  You did a great job.  I bet that little thing is fun to ride.

Do you feel comfortable (and confident) standing on the pegs?

I really like what you did with the ignition.  Is that a Ryca part or something you came up with?

Thanks xaman!

I feel totally comfortable on the pegs. It feels surprisingly natural. It's a blast to ride! The suspension is pretty dang stiff for a lighter dude like me, though.

I used the ryca piece for the ignition. I had to tweak it to fit my tank better. I also covered it with black suede because I thought it looked cool.

Thanks for the reply.  I haven't moved my pegs yet, still in the forward position, so no standing for me yet.  It's really my wife's ride and she likes them forward for the knee room, but I would like to eventually pull them back to a standard position.

Did you clear coat the raw tank or will you let it oxidize and do its thing?

I put a rattle can clear on the tank. I still might paint it, but I'm digging it as is for now. The Ryca workmanship on the tank is super clean...looks awesome.

Thanks! Another bonus is that I don't have to sweat it if it gets a ding or scratch on it, like I would with a new paint job. I left the fenders raw and so far they are getting a very nice patina...we'll see!

Man that is sweet, I'd like to do the 'standard' kit (basically the same without the high pipe) seat sure is thin though, isn't it sort of uncomfortable?
Of course adding foam would be pretty easy
Any pics of you on it? (I'm data limited, so didn't go to the 'bucket

Thanks! I dig the standard too. I was torn between that one and the scrambler for my project...I haven't seen it on their website lately though. I wonder if they still do that one. I don't have any pics of me on it. It does feel comfortable. The seat is a little thin, but  I'm used to bicycle saddles, which are way harder, so I don't mind it. I haven't done a long ride on it yet though!

Oh Lawd, bike saddles
Nothing but a Brooks if I had my druthers
I hope they don't DC the Standard, but if I'm right, the main diff is the pipe and bars
Happy riding!
