Trying to fire it up
09/26/15 at 14:11:43

Hey guys just trying to fire up my bike and it's starting and kicking over but dies after I release the starter. button.  Any ideas? Could it be the timing? I did do the cam mod but pretty sure we got it right. The starter motor feels hot after trying to turn it over maybe 20 times.

Yeah we were letting it cool down and tried it again same thing it will kick over and start for the second or too that im pressing the starter button then stops as soon as I release it. We're using starter fluid also.  Just wondering if i need to open it up and check the cam. Would that be a factor if the timing is off?

Lots of steps before ripping in.
Before you pull the plug, clear out the junk down by the plug, or crap can fall in.

What has changed? Before the problem, what is going on?
Just put gas in it?
Have you been riding or has it been sitting?

Have you checked the air filter?

If it only fires when the starter button is mashed, you might have a blown fuse.  It supplies power from the starter solenoid to the TCI unit to let it know to retard the timing since you're starting.  If there's no power going in onn the regular lead, it will only fire when the button is pushed.

Not saying that is what's happening here but it might be worth checking.

If the cam timing were off, it would be off all the time and would never run if it were that far off.

This sounds electrical to me.
