Ultimafuego, I carried that stuff on a three thousand mile trip a couple of years ago. I never needed it. Having said that, it probably pays to carry tools, because you might meet a friendly person who knows how to use them.

youzguyz, I hope that is a METRIC adjustable wrench! Cool

I like the velcro, added to my kit today.

Serowbot, what an excellent suggestion! I have one of those cheapo extendable magnets (you know, like an old car antenna?) but the magnet was worthless. I JB Welded a 1/2" Neodymium magnet on it last year(actually, two 1/2" dia stacked)...that will go in the tool bag as well. Gonna have to put a thick plastic cover of some kind on it though, or it will stick everything together. I think it has about a 5 lb rating.

I feel exactly the same way jcstokes and youzguys, better to have it for you or someone you might run in to than not.  Might earn you a free beer or lunch even  Cheesy

I have to get one together, but the ones I have used in road trips in my hot rods and such usually look like yours youzguyz. Basic wrenches, zip ties, tape, etc...

One thing I dont see anyone with is that nifty spark plug wrench from the factory tool kit. Anyone ever had to change a plug on the side of the road yet? I can only assume these things do not really foul out to often.

Never needed the plug wrench outside the shop, but, I liked the OEMsocket better than my Official Spark Plug Socket, look at the lawn and garden section at Lowe's.. and, for installation, I keep an old spark plug wire boot around. A dab of antiseize on the threads..
And,always blow the crud out of the cavity the plug sits in before you pull it.

I also carry the factory tool kit in the tool cover.  Sooo.. yes, I have the niftysparkplugwrenchthatistotallyuselessunlessyoucangettothesparkplug  Tongue

I haven't carried a spark plug since I was riding 2 stroke bikes.. which would foul plugs on occasion.

Most motorcycle problems are caused by the nut between the seat and the handlebars. Make sure yours isn't too tight or too loose.

The head cover trim can be modified to swing away, plug access without tank removal.
