Lived in Odessa, (read Slow Deatha) and worked South of Sierra Blanca on a rig for nine months. Not much of a town..

Don't feel bad. I lived "served' in Odessa for 14 years! They had me with the golden handcuffs. It was like being let out of prison when the company moved me to El Paso.
Fortunately, I was a corporate pilot and was out of town most of the time, I don't think I would have stayed if I had to live in Odessa all the time.

Sorry for the rant.

No worries,, anyone familiar with the place understands. I was there and in my mind twenties when they Won the murder capital of America award.
I'm surprised I lived.

I was so naive. I used to go to Floyd Gwynne park, alone, and look for someone to throw frisbee with. One day, three rough lookin dudes walked up, said they didn't have a problem with me, thought I was a nice guy, (they musta been watching me , cuz I never even noticed them ) but they warned me that not everyone else cared if I was nice or not. Said, you shouldn't be here... Next day some old guy was found dead,, and these guys were low rider types, but they did right by me..
