JOG2 I think you were talking about some early post WW2 grand prix cars, but all I got was a coarse mouthed rapper with a woman getting out of a late model Bentley.

7 minute slide show of French cars. I just checked. Works for me. Some are boxy, some are just sexy..

There's no problem that a full tank of gas and a sunny day can't fix!

Maybe someone tech savvy can explain that. I have hit my link twice, always goes to the cars...
Does someone WANT people to Share that link and, somehow, people who click it go somewhere else?
I apologize, folks, I sure didn't intend to be sending you to an unpleasant site.

This bit
Code:
?client=mv-google#
is sending people to their personal recommendations, instead of the link you want to show...

Don't worry about it JOG2, the cars were very enjoyable. Just as a point of interest the Panhard Levassor and the Voisin both used the American invented Knight double sleeve valve engine. If you haven't struck this type of engine just Google it. It's different from the single sleeve engines used in some aircraft and a very few cars. The main American producer of Knight engines was Willys Knight.

I'm a sucker for any kinda driveline idea. Engine , transmission, clutch designs,I dig it all. Really, stop and think about how an engine works. Got a compression ring, doing its best to drag slices of cylinder away, pistols Flying up and down, darn things ought to last about five minutes..
IIRC ,Omni magazine, a short lived , probably too much for the masses,, I bought it often.. They had an article on a constant velocity transmission. I read it daily for a coupla weeks before I understood.
There's a cutaway of the Knight valves on U Tube. How those didn't crap out in minutes is amazing.

My personal contribution to French automotive art:
1. Citroen DS (read it as "Dey.Esse", it sound as "Goddess" in French)
Designed like an airplane cockpit
2. Citroen SM, the big fast cruiser commissioned by Citroen to the boys at Maserati (YUP, maserati V6 engine)
Designed like a private jet
3. Citroen CX, which replaced the DS after a 20 year success... see it go offroad !
4. Citroen GS, or the small Citroen for those who couldn't afford the bigger one
5. Matra Bagheera with 3 seats abreast, 13.L 84bhp and 1.4L with 94bhp
1960-1990, the French could really make some fine cars... Citroen certainly did !
