Different mastercylinder
08/11/15 at 13:07:47

hello everybody, Title pretty much says it all,
i'm in the UK and savage bits are not the easiest to come by, i'm doing a 7/8 bar conversion instead of inch bars, obviously my mastercylinder won't work....
would i be able to use any mastercylinder as long as its off a single disc bike?
cheers in advance
Mke

I changed my master cylinder to one from a 2008 TRX 400EX Honda 4 wheeler, it is 7/8" dia. bars and has a switch for the brake light that works fine with the stock wiring.

You need a master cylinder with a 1/2" or 13mm bore to work about the same ratio as the stock master cylinder.  Most dual brake motorcycles with multiple pistons in each caliper use a smaller master cylinder piston diameter.

awesome thanks, that helps a lot! quick search reveals certain xs650 cylinders should fit being 13mm, (looking for ones that are readily available here in the UK)

thanks
