Hey there Art. According to google maps it is actually a shorter distance for me via 290 even though time wise it is about 30 minutes longer. But since I do not travel at 75 mph 290 is probably the shorter route. I will study further to make sure. If I am wrong then 10 it will be.

Thanks for the suggestion Youzguyz. I really did not intend to pass through Austin, I was thinking of going around Austin. But I really do not know yet.

I'm sorta half considering 71, to miss San Antonio, as that only hits the tip of Austin (honestly a houstinite would probably look at Austin traffic and say 'what traffic?) though last time me and MM did ok going 10 back, via some sort of beltway type road
if ya decide on 10 let me know, maybe we can meet up

Last I saw storm is heading east. Looks like it is in the San Antonio area right now (about 10:30 pm central time). The news said we (Houston area) would get the brunt of it at around 2 to 3 am. They indicated severe thundershowers, winds up to 60 mph, hail and possible flooding in the area. Thursday is supposed to be a nice sunny day.

I was reading, and heard what I thought was a herd of romping roof raccoons.  Then there were a more of them.. then a LOT more of them.
It was the hail.  Some places in town got blasted real hard.   No damage at my place.. as far as I know.  I will inspect when I go home from work.

Speaking of the weather.. it looks to be sucky for the weekend.

And add to that I have to work early on Monday.. but should be able to bust out of here and get headed north before you guys are even awake.  Assuming it isn't pouring down rain.

And add to that that I am moving my office from an office building to my home next week.

I heard what I though was some heavy branches dragging back and forth over the carport roof last night, maybe it was hail
Looks like I better buy some more rain gear
