Puke Tube

Emptied the puke tube during an oil change, had a bit of oil in it.  I did some searching here but did not find anything specific to there being oil in it.  Maybe a couple of table spoons full.

Any thoughts?

2005 S40
9500 miles
No oil loss between changes

I hear a ticking, as I have said before, and am getting paranoid about it.  Not the typical sewing machine sounds, but a ticking.
1. At idle it seems to be silent.
2. Louder as the RPM's climb.
3. Smooth out at higher RPM.

The puke tube sounds normal, remember to put the plug back in it.

The ticking sound.... are you sure it's not the speedo or the headlight rattling at a certain rev range?

Had the speedo rattle after removing the tank but it went away.  The headlight rattle is new and annoying after changing the front turn signals.  I guess when you crack the headlight open the first time it starts.
This specifically follows the RPM of the engine unfortunately. I can hear the ticking increase as I accelerate.  When i shift it drops to silent and start as I go into the next gear.

The engine has a tube that vents the engine crankcase, and the things that come out of it are byproducts of combustion.  Fumes, water vapor, some oil spray.  There is a chamber in the front of the air cleaner that allows the droplets to settle out (oil/water), and the fumes are burned in the engine as the air cleaner housing directs those fumes into the air coming through the air filter.

The tube is there to allow you to drain out the liquid caught by the air cleaner....it is perfectly normal for there to be some liquid in that tube, and that is exactly why Suzuki provided you a way to drain it at your regular oil change.

Some ticking is normal on this bike, and it does come and go as the rpm changes.  When ticking becomes knocking...then you can justify being concerned.
