Your local Craigslist is the best tool you have for determining what that bike should sell for in your area.
"Ready to ride" is extremely important. A beautiful, clean bike that has just "sat" for 5-8 years IS a project bike. Carb work, tires, possible battery (tho the battery is only about $80). A complete tire change by a reputable dealer will run you between $300 and $500 depending on the brand of tire. Removing the carb and cleaning it, another $150 or so. Any buyer that knows Savages will know this.
My 2003 was sitting in a barn/garage for over 10 years with only minimal use each year. Needed tires and a battery, and a petcock. It had about 4000 miles and I picked it up for $1200. Local Craigslist showed it was worth around $1,800.
In my humble opinion, IF that bike is spot on clean and runs well with good rubber, it should sell for between $2,300 and $2,500. If it needs tires or doesnt run PERFECTLY, you could still get $2,000 if you put a lot of pics in the ad and write up the bike's specifics. Your price is higher than the price that local dealerships are selling that bike for (used, showroom condition).
