About 6 months ago I posted a link to my cafe racer build which showed it up to a half completed bike. Well the good news (for me anyway!!) is it's pretty much up and running - just a bit of gearing and mixture to sort. Other than that I am now the proud owner of a 1986 Suzuki Savage cafe racer.

Got the wrap laid right, and the peg location smokes..I like the color, everything... I'm too old for the handle bars, but I'd grin watching someone else ride it.

I had to smile ,,, yep,, the wind unloads the arms and back.

What all is between the silver ovals? Is the rear fender aluminium?
If I saw it parked somewhere I'd spend a while walking around it.
There are several here who have done the kind of work that would catch the eye of a rider, especially folks who have spent time building.

The panels cover up the battery and a bit of wiring and yep the rear fender is a polished alloy one, I tried to get a match for the front, but gave up in the end as they were too narrow and a modded rear one just didn't look right.- funny thing bit of speed and it becomes comfy while my regular ride becomes a bit of a neck strainer! Picking up some new rear sprockets tomorrow so start playing with the ratio's.
Oh and manual de-compressor works really well!

It's not so bad as it looks - I do about 120 miles at a stretch no more cos it runs out of gas! Got another one on the go a Hinkley Bonneville, not as long and a bit more of a relaxed position should be pretty good once it's finished, again very different from the Savage - next project will be a flat tracker of some sort - possibly a CB500!

Yep understand that - Had something similar years back - fingers would tingle and would lose feeling in hand or they would cramp up. In the end they found a swelling in my wrist which they said were "ganglions" and they were where the nerves had broken through and getting odd pressure on them hence the strange sensations - had a minor op and everything back to normal!

I have the same problem with tingling / numb hands after riding for a while. If I can get my wrists in a certain position, it goes away but it's hard to keep your wrist in one positioin while riding a bike.

For me it seems to be as related to gripping as wrist position
Pulling exercises in the gym can set it off if I'm not actively resisting the urge to 'wrist curl' heavy pulls (chins, pulldowns, rows)
So I'm not sure how much is the straight arms and how much the pulling
I do get it on sporty bikes too, but not as much, and wrist angle is a factor
Sometimes I can ride the S40 all day (butt burn aside) and sometimes not
Maybe I could ride that chop with a driver backrest Grin

It is a sweet ride
