Rear Turn Signal Mod

So I really don't like the taillights, well i do, but I really hate plastic.  I replaced the taillights on my ride with the ones found here. I cut the factory plug on the taillight side and changed the connection to bullet type so I could swap to different lights with little effort.

I did have to "remove" read hammer the little nub that went into the fender. The grind off the welds. I used some metric T nuts to screw into.

These lights are a 3 wire setup, so I wired the 2 hots together in order to make a nice bright light. I plan to do the front lights soon!

Enjoy!

When you say "tail lights" do you mean "rear turn signals"?

Do they function as turn signal blinkers only as they used to...or are you using them as running lights as well?

Yes, and DOH

I was thinking taillight though!

I am not sure how to bolt it on though, I assume that it would go on the bolt holding the rear wheel.  that makes me a little nervous.

Yes, those go on the rear axle.

It is common to mount them that way - but it sure would be inconvenient when you needed to remove the rear wheel as then you would have to juggle the wheel/brake/pulley hub/axle and license plate/tail light mount all at the same time!

I have this setup on mine, all you have to do is slide the rear axle through after the tire and pulley are in position, and then put the plate bracket on the axle and tighten the nut... Wink
