Setting the idle mixture screw should be done with the engine warmed up and running....it is not just a crank it open a bit more type of adjustment. You need to adjust it so the engine gets the proper amount of fuel while running.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zm5mB3R8UcwIf you end up with the idle fuel screw going out more then 3 turns....stop as it will not flow any more fuel beyond that point. It is time to install a larger pilot jet if you need more than 2.5 turns.
If you can turn the screw in less than a full turn...or all the way in and the bike is still running...you need a smaller pilot jet.
