Can anyone recommend a tach for my 2002 Savage LS650 for around $100
Have been looking and they are either too much $ or they are made in CHINA.

Ronnie,

The Ryca Tachometer works well on the Savages and is easy to install.
You will have to devise a way to mount it or purchase the Ryca Tachometer Mounting Bracket...

I think you will find that most of the tachs that you can afford are made in China.

RYCA and the tachs you'll find on ebay are all the same, all made in China. Save your money, buy from ebay.
They all tend to fail after a year too but for $50 who cares, this bike don't need a tach.

When I got mine I Really wanted a tach. I did other things first.
Cam, Supertrapp, carb jetting... stuff..
By the time I got comfortable riding, it was obvious, ears and butt do fine.
Ride by feel, watch the road,
If it was a serious hot rod, tach,
But you're not gonna be WFO in second at fifty MPH..

I brought mine through Catalyst Cycles and it was about $50US, ASIDE FROM THE LIGHT IN THE INSTRUMENT, IT'S STILL WORKING OK

I brought mine from Catalyst Cycles, for $50US, I think it was made in Taiwan rather than PRC, it's still going fine apart from the light in the instrument. Because of this I recommend a white face, black dial one. It is true you don't absolutely need one on this type of bike, but it's nice to have one.
