Officially on top of the hill!

At this moment 40 years ago I was breaking thru to daylight in a small military hospital in Germany. My father was still in Phan Thiet, Vietnam helping with the final troop removals and couldn't get leave to be there. Had my mother not raised a fuss I would have been born in Cambodia where she was stationed. She shouldn't have been on a plane as pregnant as she was but she was a persistant women! Her persistance prevailed once again by having us both transferred to Ft. Gordon in Augusta, GA only 3 short weeks free my birth. Because of this my fathers info is missing from my birth certificate and my official place of birth according to the US was Augusta Georgia. It took me until I was 20 years old to have my birthdate information correctly placed on the certificate. Up until we reached Ft. Gordon I had no actual record of birth other than her medical records showing child birth. I was issued a birth certificate in Georgia that showed June 30th as my date of birth. Took a while of military red tape to track down hospital records showing her having a child. Didn't help that the base that I was born at no longer existed due to cutbacks. Finally got it squared away and all the info corrected.
Long story short I'm 40 and I guess it's downhill from here!

My attitude is that I am just the right age. Everyone younger than me is too young and everyone older than me is too old.

Happy Birthday! Glad you were able to prove you were born, where, and when. It's not unlike some of those folks to stand there and tell you to your face that you don't exist...while you're standing there arguing with them
.
I'm 41, and it's not downhill from here. I still crawl around in the attic (running ethernet cables) just like I did when I was 20. Just keep moving, and you'll never slow down, you'll just stop all together one day. That's how I plan to go anyhow.

Thanks everyone!
Someone told me yesterday that life begins at 40. I replied to him "my last 39 years would strongly disagree!" I know I'm not past my prime and I've got plenty of good living left but one things for sure then next however many years can't be lived the way the last 39 have. I've lost both parents to cancers and I'm not a bekon of proper health. At this moment I've got some colon issues that I've had to address caused by poor diet and personal maintenance of my body.
I'm looking forward to the other side of 40. I'm where I thought I would be family wise, not quite where I thought I'd be career wise but I can't complain to be honest. Really the only life goal I haven't reached by this point was owning a house and that's more because of an unexpected relocation to California to take care of my dad a few years ago than financial reasons. All in all I'd say I'm not doing to bad for 40!

Happy birthday mate. I like 40. Its an age where its not inappropriate to go with any age lady you like. 20somethings are still on the table and you can have those smokin hot oldies without feeling just a bit creepy.
Which reminds me of a joke. Ill put it on the joke thread.
