Rescued this old boat a few years ago. Its a 1959 Glasspar Seafair.
She is all hand-laid fiberglass, not chop and shot like today, over a mold.
I found the 85HP Suzuki on Craigslist.
The guys couldn't get it running after hurriedly removing it from a boat they had for sale. The new buyer didn't want the motor, only the boat, but he wanted it then....
they swore it ran when removed, but after a year of messing with it, he gave up.
I got it for 500 bucks, complete with all the controls and gauges, however, they cut the cables, etc.
Uh, that was a clue.
Yep, I found an internal fuse had blown I suspect when they went a cutting.
Replaced it, turned the key, WHAM, Huston, we got liftoff
They said they disconnected the oil injection, and were running a 50-1 mix from the tank.
Wrong....
I mean, yes they were, but the injection system was intact, just so plugged up oil would not flow, WHICH, made the alarm go off, dummies.
I cleaned and replaced flow switch, filters, etc.
I am ready to put her in the water this weekend....
Should be fun.
Lots of dungeness crab and salmon will be coming my way soon
