GP shift?
06/09/15 at 14:36:03

I really like the GP shift pattern.  I became a fan of it over the years and I'd like to make this change to the S40.

Has anyone done this?  I know the shift rod won't clear the case if the linkage pivot is reversed but I've been thinking of several options to do it at the lever.  Does anyone have any suggestions?  Is anyone other than me even interested in reversing the shift pattern?

you need to make pushes pull and pulls push.
You need a bellcrank.
And a pivot to hang it on.

Agreed, but where to put it is the question? I've been looking at this while my bike is out of commission.  I need a clever solution.  Got any ideas?

I sold mine. Don't remember what it really looks like
Down There.

I guess it could be behind the transmission input shaft, it's a gizmo, it may well be more hassle than value.

I don't mind the hassle.  The bike is a paperweight right now.  It'll give me something to do  Smiley

Here's a view of it to refresh your memory

Yeah, I can picture it, in my head, but translating it to reality would take a long time.
What is keeping you from making the bike something other than a paper weight?

I can't really see a way to do it
extend rod beyond the shift shaft and mount to a bellcrank with a shorter rod running back forward to the shift shaft maybe?
a lot of R&D to make that work without binding

That was the first thing I considered.  I also thought about doing it at the pedal.  It's definitely going to be a real challenge.  I'm determined to do it though.
