Hi... I'm Sonny from DeSoto TX. I rode a Savage in the '90s, then sold it to a friend who put a couple hundred miles on it and then parked it in his living room for nigh on 15 years -- unfortunately, with gas in the tank and everything else un-preserved. I recently bought the bike back at a fair price and have gotten it running but needing just about everything in the way of rubber parts & so forth.

I have now revisited all the things I loved and hated about keeping a Savage running good, and was driven right to this website and forum, and was delighted to find it. You folks have gone the extra mile to address the things that stand between the stock bike and a really good, unique, serviceable  ride. I always loved the character of the LS650 and lamented the annoying details that made it not quite right. Three cheers to this community for not being discouraged and bulling its way toward realizing the potential this little scoot has always held out.

Happy riding to all, and hopefully I can eventually contribute some street wisdom of my own. In the meantime, I am thumpin' again and looking for an S40 so's the wife and I can ride together.

Silicone oil is the alleged
Active Ingredient

in Armorall, but that stuff also has stuff that evaporates and, IMO, creates the need for More Armorall. Haven't run tests, but based on observation in Odessa Texas, where it gets Hot, I saw people use it for a while, stop, dash cracks... How many would have not if they had continued?
How many would sooner if they never did?
Untested, it's just one opinion.
But, I never had a dash crack and I only used the stuff occasionally.
I watched the plastic. Buy a used car, detail the interior. A few days later,if the dash looks dry, a few drops rubbed in, you can see how far a few drops goes.
The exterior window seal rubber on a car,, keeps them alive..
Every coupla years after you've got it so it looks right after a few days in the sun
