Soo my petcock.

I have a raptor in the mail so no worries. But I went to change my clutch cable and well. I unhooked the gas so the carb and some gas was in the line, okay and then went around to take the vacuum like off the carb and discovered its broke almost all the way through in half where in slides onto the carb. And now the petcock will not freely flow fuel in prime nor in any other setting... anyways I can cheat it into deciding to drain?

I feel like im going to have to drain it though the fill hole into a container. Its got me confused because the bike would run Unless all this decided to happen when I parked it monday morning

I tried all 3 positions to make sure cause I was impatiently waiting to fill my gas can up aaaand nothing.. there is a nearly full tank in it too

Reply #5 - 05/21/15 at 12:41:28 Well if you can't get it to drain in any setting....you can get a funnel and a can, and then take the screws off the front of the petcock and pull out the valve - that will sure as heck get the tank drained!

Neil,

Harbor Freight, and many other places, sell an inexpensive syphon, which consists of a hose and a bulb that you squeeze to suck the gas out of the fuel tank and into a gas container.

After you have the tank drained it will be easy enough to remove the petcock to take a look at what is clogged, or blocking the fuel flow.

When your new Raptor petcock arrives you will be ready to ride.

I've noticed no matter how long my bike has set it will not run with the enricher pulled out. it just dies, and if it will run it is only the first notch and idles way too high. is this a good thing or no?

Nothing to worry about. Mine was the same way and I never needed to use the enrichment to start the bike no matter how long it sat.

I don't ride in cold weather however.....and I don't believe I ever started the bike in weather much below 60 degrees. You have to remember that the bike is designed so that it can start in cold weather if you want/need to....I don't need to. Wink

I get off work at 6am so forawhile its been 35-40 degrees in the mountains til recently and no problems

the thing about that is the bike has had 2 owners before me. the first one put 500 miles on it and sold it to a shop and the person I bought it off of got it and filled in til the 4120 miles when I got it. I was told atleast from the person I bought it from they never messed with anything on it (I asked about jetting because they had someone drill out the exhaust some because they hated how quiet it was) And it will backfire like clock work decelerating. usually either the frying egg noise or one loud crack. but from what I know. none of them have been messed with but I may be at a higher elevation than they were in P.A.

Until you figure out what is wrong with your petcock.....there may be no reason to try and figure out your fuel enrichment.
