Got a few new things for it:
-high compression pistons
-new Perky camshaft
-rejet of carb
-new exhaust

Yep, it runs a WEEE bit better.   Cool

Next is a decent air filter;  any suggestions ?

Is there a belt on it or does the exhaust just blow it down the road?
Looks good, try to stay inside the envelope. That looks like a whole world of difference between that and the Savage.

There's no problem that a full tank of gas and a sunny day can't fix!

Needed something a bit bigger and heavier for my bride and I, so exchanged the mainly solo seat for the 2-up seat, added the back rest, and beefed up efficient low-midrange power for the 2 of us.
The new exhaust is a bit lower and much less harsh than before, which makes it much more pleasant.

Did I mention it is a WEEE bit faster ?   Grin Grin Grin

It is a GOOD thing that the igniton does have a "cut-out" at the redline

I don't remember if you were here when I got it.
I picked this machine up in Jan '11 at a Chevy dealer with shopping with my daughter for a new car for her.  It had set in their showroom for months & marked down & down & down.  The REALLY wanted to sell it.  I offered $4k out the door if they could come back with a contract in 15 min.  He was back in 5.  After taxes etc I got it for $3500.  I crashed in Feb and the insurance totaled it for $4600 and I bought it back so ended up with $3500.  I spent about $1000 putting it back on the road.

That's a sweet deal
no offense to my S40, but sometimes I wish it was a Harley (usually when I'm forced to rise the freeway)

That's been Totaled? You stole it, had it crashed out from under you, fixed it, your money in is zilch,  and you have a really nice looking bike. Good for you, man.
What was the damage? Tell about the repair, or point me to iif you did.

Yep, crashed pretty hard on that thing I did, but it hurt me a good bit more than the bike.  The tank still has the battle scars on the far side.  I think I may have a photo of it.
The damage was:  the bars were crunched hard on the left side and smashed into the tank, so those were replaced.  The clutch lever was broken, damage to the light/horn/signal controls with damaged wires to them; left side foot controls for shifter and peg was broken up/bent; left side signals front & rear broken; rear tail/stop light broken; bent tag bracket; and maybe a couple of other things I've forgotten.
I kept the tank as is, as a reminder for me, and the rest was mostly just take off & replace.  I did repair the tag bracket and the push button controls on the left side.  Mostly just a grind/polish/paint thing and repair/replace some wiring that had been torn apart.   A friend of mine, John, who owns a small independent HD shop in Chapin helped out with many of the parts needed at cost or just gave them to me.  He is, or was, on Hwy 6 just south of Chapin SC.  If you are ever in the area and need help he is a good man to call.

I love the color the new headers have taken on after riding a bit.  It's all brushed stainless from tip to tip.

I would guess it is "When I am forced to ride the Freeway....".

The "s" and "d" are right next to each other on the keypad....easy mistake!
