The "human????" who's doing this wants some fun out of upsetting car drivers, it doesn't give a tinkers cuss that it's actions may kill or maim a motorcyclist.

Have the Police interviewed the local tire retailers?

Seems like a scheme to improve sales!   Shocked

This is insane!  Angry

I know that in the UK there was a spate of thefts with people stealing man-hole covers and drain covers to then weigh in for scrap metal.

But this is dark, very dark  Sad

The local scrap yards won't accept manhole covers or storm grates from regular folks anymore.  If you want to turn those in for scrap you need to be associated with a Public Works Department, Sanitation District or one of the Contractors working for them.

Seems it would take a certain amount of skill/work to execute, hard to believe no one sees someone tempering with manholes.

Now, ask yourself Why someone would do that. Is it just someone who has a bent idea of funny , someone who sells tires? What?

And, how? JB Weld? Just walking along, bend over and set it?
If someone thinks thats funny why not  6 X6 pieces of plywood with 10 or so
long drywall screws run thru, paint flat black and dob a lump of JB Weld on the back and plunk them down in the road?
A hole in the bottom of a van, parked over the manhole?

But WHY? Some total loser who would get a giggle out of causing enough trouble to make the news? Someone who is absolutely convinced cars are evil?
If you have ever run a grinder you'll know how much time it took to make that.

I don't expect many of those. Time , effort and cost are all high.

What's the diameter of the bolt? Best guess, anyone,,,
I see low spots that don't exactly make sense..

And I was complaining about potholes in my street and the neighbor's dog wanting to chase me.               Hitting one of those could / would cause some serious accidents.   i.e. Getting thrown into oncoming traffic..... NOT FUNNY !!!

JOG, it's the same with computer viruses. They cause mayhem but the perpetrator is not even around to see the "destruction" (assuming this "person" isn't either).

Some people are truly evil!

Looks like the just sharpened a bolt and super glued it to the manhole cover.
I normally ride around them anyway.... I guess you could carry a hammer or battery powered grinder and get rid of them.

unless those covers have a threaded hole in them...
they had to lift the cover up insert a bolt and lock it in place with a nut.
a transmitter with a pop up switch and the neighborhood watch would take care of them.
