Well now you learned, oil fill caps, finger tight.
However, I did make a 'tool'. for the oil cap. Used it once, when a PO, put on a oil fill, 'tight', on another bike.
Went to the junk yard, picked up a rusted socket. That fit over the cap. (it was the correct price, free) Pit a dab of tape of the hole in the socket. Took the oil cap, (from the 06), and smeared a thin layer of grease on it. Then filled the socket with epoxy, (only about 1/3) Then put the cap in it, (upside down), Now, a socket, which perfectly fits the slotted top oil fill.
Worked perfect on the 97, which the PO apparently believed that was a 'torque', item.
Thinking, that using a, 'putty', type epoxy, which doesn't run. One could do that, while the cap is in place, before the top is broke off.
